In 2025, trade turnover with Suriname amounted to 5.97 million US dollars (increased by 50% compared to 2024). Ukrainian exports amounted to 5.62 million US dollars, imports from Suriname - 0.35 million US dollars.

The following commodity items prevailed in the export structure: sunflower oil (90% of exports); twisted wire, cables, braided cords made of ferrous metals. The main commodity items of Surinamese imports to Ukraine were: frozen fish.

There were no direct investment inflows from Suriname into the economy of Ukraine.

According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine for January-July 2026, the volume of bilateral trade in goods between Ukraine and Suriname amounted to 4.38 million USD, including Ukrainian exports to Suriname - 4.22 million USD, imports of Surinamese goods to Ukraine - 161 thousand USD. The positive balance of trade in goods for Ukraine amounted to 4.05 million USD. The volume of Ukrainian exports exceeded imports from Suriname by more than 26 times.

The basis of Ukrainian exports to Suriname was sunflower, safflower or cottonseed oil - 3.75 million USD (88.9% of exports); twisted wire, cables and braided cords of ferrous metals without electrical insulation - 373 thousand USD (8.8%); condensed milk and cream - 63 thousand USD. USA (1.5%); wheat flour - 31 thousand. USD (0.7%). Thus, the above four commodity items accounted for almost 100% of Ukrainian exports to Suriname, with almost nine-tenths of the deliveries formed by sunflower and other oils of the corresponding commodity item.

Imports from Suriname had an extremely limited commodity structure and consisted mainly of frozen fish - 138 thousand. USD (85.7% of imports) and crustaceans - 23 thousand. USD (14.3%). In fact, all Surinamese imports to Ukraine were fish products.

Thus, in January-July 2026, Ukrainian-Suriname trade in goods was characterized by a clear dominance of Ukrainian exports and a significant positive trade balance for Ukraine. At the same time, the commodity structure of bilateral trade remained highly concentrated: about 89% of Ukrainian exports were sunflower and other oils of the corresponding commodity heading, and 100% of imports from Suriname were formed by frozen fish and crustaceans.
