John Baird congratulated Pavlo Klimkin on his appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In his turn, Ukrainian Foreign Minister thanked the Government of Canada for the support of Ukraine both on bilateral level and within the framework of the UN and G7.

The Ministers discussed prospects of strengthening the special partnership between Ukraine and Canada, in particular by the means of renewal of the bilateral Free Trade Agreement negotiations.

The diplomats agreed to meet next week in Brussels during the Ukraine-NATO Commission meeting.
