The Foreign Ministers of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine, had a broad in-depth discussion on the political way ahead towards a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine and a possible summit meeting in Astana. The Ministers affirmed their strong commitment to a swift and comprehensive peaceful solution of the current crisis, including a sustainable political process.
Ministers reconfirmed that the basis for conflict resolution are the Minsk agreements that have to be implemented by all sides in their entirety. They reiterated the necessity to fully respect the regime of quiet.
Ministers call on the Contact group to meet in the coming days to make progress on the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, including the creation of the relevant conditions for an effective cease-fire, an agreement on modalities for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the continuation of the release of detainees.
This would contribute to pave the way to the preparation of a successful summit meeting in Astana. They agreed that further work needs to be done to this end.
