The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses strong protest against the decision of the authorities of the Russian Federation represented by the Moscow city court to extend the period of detention of the Ukrainian citizen, member of the Ukrainian parliament, member of the permanent delegation of the Ukrainian parliament in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Nadiia Savchenko until September 30, 2015.

Unwarranted and unlawful court decision has become another proof of the lack of willingness of the Russian Federation to adhere to the provisions set forth in the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, which, among other things, envisage the release of all hostages and other unlawfully detained persons on “all for all” basis.

The Russian party has once again ignored Nadiia Savchenko’s status as a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who enjoys European parliamentary immunity, whereby violating its obligations as a member state of the Council of Europe.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly demands the Russian party to adhere to its commitments, in particular to ensure full compliance with Minsk agreements, including immediate release of Nadiia Savchenko and all the other citizens of Ukraine unlawfully detained in Russia.
