Head of the Presidential Administration Ihor Rainin had a meeting with the U.S. delegation of the Atlantic Council headed by Director of the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center John Herbst. The delegation also includes Board member of the Atlantic Council Steve Nicandros who represents the U.S. energy company Frontera Resources.
The Head of the Presidential Administration expressed gratitude to the American party for its consistent support of Ukraine, important expert assistance and facilitation of the Atlantic Council in consolidation of international efforts aimed to counter Russian aggression against our state. The parties underscored the importance of further development of effective contacts with new U.S. Administration.
Ihor Rainin informed the representatives of the Atlantic Council on the situation in Donbas, which is being further aggravated due to provocative actions of Russia and its militants. He emphasized that Ukraine remains confident about the necessity of increasing sanctions against the country-aggressor. The American party supported the necessity of preserving sanctions against Russia until full implementation of the Minsk agreements and restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, including Crimea.
The parties discussed the process of reforms in Ukraine. The members of the Atlantic Council noted significant progress in the reformation of the energy sector.
Ihor Rainin emphasized that Ukraine is interested in the involvement of American investments and advanced technologies and makes sustained efforts to create a favorable business climate in the country.
