22 July - the European Day for Victims of Hate Crime

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its support to all actions related to the European Day for Victims of Hate Crime.

On this day, we express solidarity with the European community, remembering the victims of hate crimes and emphasize the importance of supporting the Campaign of No Hate Speech.

We join all people who strongly stand against all forms of violence and discrimination.

Unfortunately, today the cases of hate crimes are taking place in many parts of the world. It is clear, that such crimes, compared to other violent crimes, have a broader impact on victims and communities because they aim at key aspects of human identity.

In this regard, we underline that compliance with the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is extremely important for ensuring equality to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or other status.

The prevention of all forms of discrimination and protection of victims of such discrimination from hate crimes should be a priority and responsibility of international community.

We believe that states, international and non-governmental organizations as well as individuals will follow the values of human rights and democracy and stand against racial, religious, ethnic or other forms of discriminations that lead to hostility and hate crimes.
