Ukraine condemns the launch of a ballistic missile conducted by North Korea (DPRK) on February 13, 2017.
Such action of Pyongyang is a direct violation of the UN Security Council resolutions, including resolution 2321 (2016), adopted in November 2016.
Launch of a ballistic missile by North Korea could lead not only to additional escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula but also to further aggravation of the security situation in the world.
Ukraine as a country that had voluntarily dismantled its own nuclear arsenal
and strictly abides by the principles of nuclear non-proliferation, will use all possible leverages in its capacity of a non-permanent member of the Security Council in order to return North Korea to the international legal framework.
We urge the DPRK's leadership to stop provocations by the ballistic missiles launches and nuclear tests and to renew its dialogue with the IAEA.
