President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is on a working visit to Sloviansk where he examines the return of the city liberated from militants to peaceful life.
The Head of State met and had a conversation with local citizens. He assured that the government would do everything possible to restore normal life in the city as soon as possible.
Also, the President awarded servicemen who had approved themselves in the course of the CTO.
The Head of State informed that the local government was instructed to restore the housing fund as soon as possible for the population to have an opportunity to return to their homes.
At 17:00, the electricity supply was restored in the city under the temporary scheme. “The city which has been staying without electricity for weeks will have an opportunity to turn on the light today,” the President said to journalists.
“We have clearly set terms when the schools must be restored for children to have an opportunity to go to school on September 1 because journey to school is also a symbol of peace,” the Head of State emphasized.
The President expressed hope to visit Donetsk and Luhansk in the nearest time.
At the same time, Petro Poroshenko stressed that liberation of the cities in the Donbas was not only a military operation. “It became possible when people understood that they do not want to live under pressure, at gunpoint,” he said.
