Any elections that may be held in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions contrary to the Ukrainian legislation will not be recognized by the civilized world and will threaten the peace process in the Donbas, President Petro Poroshenko noted.
Delivering a speech at the first session of the Judicial Reform Council, the President noted: "Fair society can be built only in conditions of the rule of law and fair elections that are opposite to pseudo-elections terrorists and bandits are now planning to conduct in the occupied areas. On November 2, at gunpoint, they want to demonstrate fake expression of will of Donbas residents".
The President informed that he had held a lot of consultations with global leaders recently and had been assured that the elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions "will not be recognized by the civilized world, for they contradict the legislation of Ukraine, Minsk agreements and threaten the entire peace process". According to the President, global leaders emphasize that the elections must be held solely under the Ukrainian legislation.
