Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel discussed the results of tripartite gas consultation between Ukraine, Russia and the EU. The parties underlined the necessity of achieving conditions for immediate gas supply to Ukraine in winter period and ensuring energy security of Europe.
Leaders of Ukraine and Germany stressed that it was important that all the arrangements in Brussels were coordinated in constant dialogue with the EU, particularly with President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and Vice-President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger.
Petro Poroshenko informed Angela Merkel that in the given context he would have phone consultations with acting President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and Jean-Claude Juncker who will start performing the duties of President of the European Commission on November 1.
Also, President Poroshenko and Chancellor Merkel condemned the intention of holding pseudo-elections in the so-called DPR and LPR on November 2, because they would contradict Minsk protocol of September 5. The President of Ukraine emphasized that all the parties to Minsk protocol and Minsk memorandum bore responsibility for its fulfillment, including the Russian Federation that had reaffirmed devotion to the given agreements following the multilateral dialogue in Milan of October 17.
