President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko emphasizes the necessity of fulfilling Minsk agreements on peaceful resolution of the situation in the Donbas not in word but in deed.
Answering the questions of journalists in Chisinau regarding the possibility of new formats of negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbas, the President of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the world and especially to the countries of G7 and the European partners for the support of Ukraine. The Head of State emphasizes that there can be a lot of formats: Normandy, Weimar, Visegrad and other formats that provide an opportunity for different countries to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine and assist us in these difficult times. Still, according to the President, the main thing is "to fulfill Minsk agreements not in word but in deed".
"Minsk agreements provide for not just the immediate ceasefire, liberation of hostages and border closure for the foreign troops. They also provide for the political dialogue that will allow holding of free elections in the Donbas under the Ukrainian legislation," the President emphasized.
"Unless there is a positive change, the effect of sanctions should be continued," the Head of State noted.
