The year 2014 has changed both Ukrainians and Europeans. It was stated by the President in the course of the traditional New Year reception for diplomatic missions and foreign representatives. According to him, the past year has become the year of challenges in defending dignity and freedom for the entire world.

Petro Poroshenko has emphasized that the people of Ukraine was currently fighting for its freedom, dignity and opportunity to go the chosen way. Ukrainians have already paid an extremely high price for their freedom. Speaking of the annexation of Crimea, the Head of State has noted: "We will never put up with this. Struggle for the return of Crimea will last until historical truth and justice are restored".

The President has thanked the countries for supporting Ukraine, particularly the United States for adopting the Ukraine Freedom Support Act, as well as Canada, Japan, Australia and European countries. "Ukraine's struggle for independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty has become a moment of truth in our relations with the countries of the world," the President has noted.

Petro Poroshenko has emphasized that European and Euro-Atlantic integration was the only alternative for Ukraine. That's why he has submitted the draft law on the abolition of the non-aligned status of Ukraine for consideration by Verkhovna Rada. "Belonging to Europe is the only possible form of existence for Ukraine. Signature of the Association Agreement in 2014 has become a strategic step and the government will do everything possible to conduct reforms and implement the Agreement," the President has stressed.

The Head of State has addressed the ambassadors with a request to support Ukraine. "I call on the entire world: please, join us in our struggle. Join Ukraine in its matter of peace, reforms and affirmation of human dignity and freedom," the President has noted.
