China supports territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Ukraine
On June 26 First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Nataliia Galibarenko met with Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China on UN Security Council reform Gao Yusheng.
The parties discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly Ukraine-China cooperation in the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
Bearing in mind that 2015 marks the seventieth anniversary of the United Nations, both sides emphasized the need for more effective UN, including through the reform of the UN Security Council.
According to N.Galibarenko, the fact that the UN Security Council failed to take effective measures to end Russian aggression against Ukraine and Russia`s blatantly abuse of its right to veto as a Council`s permanent member is a vivid evidence that this UN body needs to be reformed.
In turn, the Chinese side reaffirmed its continued support for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The Special Representative of the MFA of China also supported the need to increase the representation of the Group of Eastern European States in the enlarged UN Security Council.
